Director of Choreography


Germán was born in Zárate, Buenos Aires Province on 31 May 1986. At the early age of 10 he started studying his passion, Tango, and at 15 he graduated from Gatell Conservatory of Dance with a honorable Master of Tango degree. During the following years, German broadened his skills by studying classical and contemporary ballet, jazz and acrobatic techniques, finally obtaining a Master of Choreographic Composition at the National Institute of Arts.

German was trained by a wide variety of teachers; however, the most important was Nélida Rodriguez, whom he refers to as his “Artistic Godmother”. She was one of the legendary Tango Argentino’s first dancers and a star who had success on Broadway in the 1980’s. She imparted her knowledge of not only dance but also yeites (an early 20th century Tango term meaning “the secrets of the Tango steps”).

German has won numerous awards and acknowledgements throughout his career. In 2003 he won the “Best New Talent” prize, and in 2005 the “Golden Dance Competition” on the famous Argentine primetime TV show “Susana Gimenez”, hosted by the popular Argentine star of the same name. After obtaining his first competition gold medal in 1999, German went on to win seven additional gold medals at a series of contests for the youth of Buenos Aires Province and over 20 gold medals at the national level, culminating in 2005 when German won the title of Tango World Champion. in 2008 the Department of Culture of Zárate, German’s home town, paid tribute to him for his outstanding achievements.

German has performed at many of the famous Tango houses in Buenos Aires including Mambo, Chiquin Buenos Aires and El Viejo Almacén and conducted dance performances at some of the most important milongas, such as La Viruta, Porteño and Bailarín, Parakultural and Confitería Ideal. He has performed on many top rating South American TV shows; Susana Gimenez, Showmatch, La Noche del 10 (hosted by Diego A. Maradona), Desayuno, Por Siempre Tango, Por el Mundo and Programa do Jó. Other international TV programs include CW11 Morning News (USA), Fox News (USA), Good Day New York! (New York), Espejo Público (Madrid), Televisión de Cataluña (Barcelona) and Sky News (London). German competed in Jennifer López & Marc Anthony’s reality TV show "Q’ Viva- The Chosen" which was screened throughout the USA, Canada and Latin America, becoming a winning finalist, culminating in performances in the “Q’Viva live stage show in Las Vegas.

During his career German has danced in many different stage productions including Bien de Tango with El Arranque Orchestra, Vamos al Tango with Osvaldo Berlingeri (which obtained 4 Starfish prizes), El Viejo Almacén Brazilian Tour together with Ariel Spandrio’s Orchestra, and Tango por La Igualdad. In 2006, he traveled extensively around Japan performing in Buenos Tangos under Musical Director Fabio Hager. In 2008, he rejoined Tango Dance Premium and Fernando Marzán’s Orchestra.

International dance festivals have enabled German to perform in front of a broader audience, participating in festivals in Argentina, Chile, Barcelona and the UK. He has performed in most of the worlds renowned venues; Bolshoi Theatre (Moscow), Shanghai Oriental Arts Center (Shanghai), Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (Malaysia), Sydney Opera House (Sydney), New York City Center (New York), Place Des Arts (Montreal), Sadler’s Wells Theatre (London), Esplanade (Singapore), Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles), GEBA Arena (Buenos Aires) and Mandalay Bay Arena (Las Vegas), among others. German’s winning of the reality TV show “Q’ Viva- The Chosen”, enabled him to perform in “Q’ Viva Live” starring JLo and Marc Anthony which was directed by Jamie King at Manalay Bay in Las Vegas in May 2012. In June of the same year, Germán joined JLO on stage once again, as her special guest artist for the premier performance of her Dance Again World Tour at GEBA Arena in Buenos Aires. Germán has naturally progressed into directing and choreography forming Sentimientos Tangueros for the pleasure and entertainment of Ex President of Vietnam Tran Duc Luong on his visit to Argentina. Since then Germán has choreographed a number of shows; Mission Tango under the Musical Direction of Lisandro Adrover, Tango Inferno- The Fire Within, Immortal Tango and Tango Fire.

To date, German’s has toured Germany, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Norway, Serbia, Portugal, Italy, Russia, Greece, Canada, Korea, Turkey, Malaysia, South Africa, Chile, Singapore, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Philippines. With shows extensively performed throughout the USA, Brazil, United Kingdom, Spain, the Netherlands, Australia, China, and Japan. At present, Germán is Director of Choreography and Lead Dancer in Tango Fire Company of Buenos Aires which he joined in 2006 the year after it’s inception. He has been a performer in Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s contemporary dance piece M!longa since 2013.

Apart choreographing shows since 2006 German has become one of the most recognized and requested tango coaches and choreographers for couples competing in the Tango World Championships held in Buenos Aires every August. In 2011, German's students Max Van de Voorde & Solange Acosta won the World Tango Championships whilst his other students came 2nd, 4th & 5th. In 2012, Cristian Correa & Sabrina Amuchastegui, and Nicolas Schell & Nair Schinka came 3rd and 4th respectively with another of his couples Ariel Leguizamon & Yesica Esquivel in 9th place, all of them archived this under German’s choreography and strict guidance. Finally, in 2013 Nicolas Schell & Nair Schinka were runners-up, and Facundo Ruiz Diaz & Agostina Tarchini in 7th place. In 2012 was coach for a tango couple in the Latin America equivalent of Dancing With The Stars, 'Bailando 2012'. German has been a tour de force in Tango Fire since 2006.
